I have an 1988 Lincoln Town Car with 5600 org. miles it has not been used in the last six years..it is running good only problem it is hard starting and runs rough for about a mile and then gets real smooth and no problems
Usually the spark plugs or the timing.
Idle Air Control Valve....if this breaks you car wont idle properly....the rpm will go up then down all the time when idling
my 96 dodge Dakota wont idle when engine is warm and i changed idle air controle valve what else could be wrong
possibly a vacuum leak, low fuel pressure, or the idle air control has failed,
A lack of fuel. Can cause your vehicle not to idle. A dirty fuel filter can cause the same problem. The fuel injection pump can also cause your vehicle to not idle properly.
You might the wrong driver, or it is not installed properly.
It could be that your EGR valve has failed or has a piece of carbon stuck in it .
A Ford Escort might not idle properly if the throttle position sensor is not functioning properly. This part is a plug in that is on the side of the carburetor (throttle body).
the idle solinoid may need changing, or its power source is not plugged in or working. If the solinoid is not powered the carby wont know where to idle, it will drive fine but wont idle when you pull up at lights ect.
The issue may be one of several things. It may be caused by a clogged fuel line or fuel filter. There may also be a problem with the fuel pump, or a hole in the fuel line. It may also be caused by the fuel/air mixture being off.
You need to adjust your idle speed on your carburator.
its either the trans or case
