There are pages and pages of things that can cause a check engine light. You need to have it checked with a scantool. Then the code can be diagnosed and repaired.

Sounds to me like your alternator is going out. That's what it was when mine did it, go to O'Reilly's or Autozone and get them to check it.

well that's not to hard to answer. my truck did the same thing i replace the speedometer cable and sensor in the transmission and i never had that problem since. try that first and see what happens if that wont work then replace the speedometer panel in the dashboard.

if you check the engine codes, and get the variable speed sensor, o2 sensors, and the too much electric 1298, and fuse 15 blown, then it's probably the wiring harness c115, track down TSB 99-029

I would suspect a loose or corroded ground connection. May be at the battery, or the ground strap. Check them all. I have the same problem on 1998 Civic LX... a lot of people say check wiring harness around the header... but i still didn't find the problem. Pls if you can find anything post thank you. FT
