It can be a "cold solder connection", a flaky switch, a dirty connector somewhere or a transistor can be getting ready to fail.
I personally would go with Sony as they have stuff that last, best bang for your buck. The warrenty is great and if something goes wrong by fluke with a company this big you know they are not going out of business anytime soon.

There are several bulbs in this television not to be confused with a picture tube,it is possible that a bulb may need to be replaced. The tv does indeed have a bulb inside of it. You will not have to replace it unless something goes wrong and its broken it may need to be replaced to work again.
normally when a t.v. does that it means that their is no signal, ur t.v. is on the wrong station, or its broken.
If you lose the picture after 20 seconds but still see the raster, there's probably a problem in the tuning circuit. And nothing you can fix. You've got a lemon. Hopefully, it's still under warranty.
