Perhaps some of your neighbors could use help around their houses. Or perhaps you know someone who owns a nearby business. Can you pick up litter or leaves? Are you big enough to run errands to a nearby store for them? Can you mow a lawn or wash a car? Can you vacuum carpets or babysit? Can you file charts alphabetically or chronologically? Can you wash dishes or wash the dog? Wash windows?
With just about any of these, you should be able to earn at least between 5-6 dollars an hour.
You are better off sticking with people you know. It's safer that way.
Tell them why you want to earn some money, and offer to do whatever you can (see the list above) if they could pay you for it. Be sure you know what the agreement is before you begin work. Write it down. That way, you will know what your customer!! expects from you and how much you expect to earn and how long it will take.
Whatever you do, don't quit in the middle of a job! See it through to the end, even if it is harder than you expected or takes longer than you thought. Use these experiences as a learning experience, and learn from your mistakes.
Someday you will be applying for a job with a full-time employer, probably when you are about 16. On the application, it will ask for work experience and references. You'll be able to proudly list these odd jobs and your satisfied customers. This can help a great deal in landing that job.
