The Maidu Indians of Northern California were hunters, fishers and gatherers. Their main job was survival. They lived mostly on the acorn nut of the Black Oak Tree which they ground up with stone mortar and pestles then leached, to creat an acorn mush to eat. They often added other vegetables.
The men did the hunting and farming while the women did the house work and taking care of everybody in the family. The women were the most important person in the family.
They didn't have jobs. Everything was related to maintaining the tribe.

The Maidu Indians usually traveled by boat that was made out of Ceder log. In the winter they traveled by snowshoes made out of wood. A special wood the wood was very bendy.
