WHMIS training is designed to ensure the health and safety of employers and employees and to give them up-to-date information in dealing with hazardous materials such as substances, chemicals and the like. WHMIS (Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System) training is a requirement for those individuals who are exposed or likely to be exposed to a hazardous material or controlled product at the workplace.

Here's a list of jobs that require WHMIS training:

*Cleaners/Janitors from Factories

-Since they are dealing with cleaning of hazardous materials or controlled products in a daily basis, they are part of this program

*Contractors

-There are various kinds of Contractor. If you are part of this group then you should take this training program

*Automotive

-They are dealing with different substances and chemicals. Those are controlled products that is why they are also required to take this training.

*Retail / Food Industry

-The WHMIS training is required for most food industries that deal with handling, shipping/transporting, and receiving of different hazardous materials and goods.

*Healthcare / Laboratories

-Same with Automotive professionals, they deal with different substances and chemicals

*Factory Workers

-They are also dealing with different controlled products

Additionally, anyone who is involved in the transportation of chemicals and other dangerous goods are required to get a WHMIS training. Though there is a difference when it comes to WHMIS and TDG, both are required and must be taken by an individual - especially those working on work place where there is a huge risk of getting contact with dangerous and hazardous materials.
