A CBC is a lab test run in hematology. It measures your hemogolobin and hematocrit, red cell distibution width, and white and red blood cell count.

It is usually oredered with a diff...(differential) which is used to see what levels and types of white cells you have. Different types of white cells indicate different types of problems in your body...ie if you are have a viral infection vs a bacterial infection or an allergic reaction...

Since CBC's can give so much information, they are ordered for a large variety of reasons...
