Not a bacterial infection. I'd bet dollars to donuts there's a piece of the thorn left inside the thumb. Tell your docs they won't be able to see it visually or with MRI, but they can likely pick it up with ultrasound. The inflamation is the body's reaction to the remaining thorn -- not a bacterial infection. As such antibiotics won't help.
In fact -- check out the article I've included in the link -- show it to your doctors. It describes an almsot identical case, with a surgical remedy and a full recovery in 2 weeks.
Good luck.
it's not a bacteria but a fungus... sporotrichosis
She probably should
a bacteria can be a friend or a foe depending on what it does.....like some bacteria help fermentation while some cause diseases.
The answer, my friend, is in the results of his AIDS test. Performed by good doctors everywhere.
i have never had my lip pierced, but my friend did and it swelled up, so she put ice on it and the swelling went down. try it. i hope it works for you.
Fisherman's Friend
False. Yes, some are harmful but not all. Take for example cheese. It's made with bacteria. Yeast, found in bread, is bacteria.
we are not doctors here also we can't see your friend and your friend's condition best thing to do is ask a doctor who is caring for your friend.
Erm... They discontinued that in the 1950's, I believe. Sorry friend.
You say, "my friend is calling other doctors to get more pain pills. Don't tell anyone I told you. When or if you talk to him about this, just say the other doctors were calling you to make sure there wasn't an active prescription already and because you are his physician." (something along those lines, there is no right way. Sounds like your friend is on a slippery slope. I hope all ends well)
