Roller rocker arms can be used with most any cam.
to adjust the rocker arms you have to either tighten or loosen the top bolt on the rocker arm/arms that need to be adjusted. there is a specified torque for the rocker arms that you should follow to help you adjust the them
no
You must have a modified camshaft. The lift on the cam is to high of a lift and the rocker arms are binding on the studs. You need to use a long slot rocker arms to stop that. You also need to check the rocker are studs and make sure they are not cut in half.
i need rocker arm torque for 3176 cat
Over reving the engine, ( to many RPM )The rocker arm nuts need replaced ( The locks are worn out on the nuts )The rocker arms are worn where they set on the valve stems.Need to check everything closely.
i need to know what the torque specs are on the rocker arms for a 97 Chevy lumina, 3.1L v6
Yes the 2.2 is zero tolorence there is no adjustment on the rocker arms and the head bolts are torque to yeild. so if you have a ticking other then the injectors you need to replace the lifters and they are roller,
Any under the hood components will have to be moved to gain access to the valve covers. Remove the covers. The rocker arms are held in by one nut per each rocker. The rockers need to be unbolted, removed, and the push rods inspected. the arms need to be set to the gap desired, depending on how the engine will be used. Reassemble the parts on the engine.
well the nuts are called poly locks the only thing need to know is size studs most small blocks have 3/8 studs . roller rockers come in two ratios 1.5-1.6 most are 1.5 unless stamped on rockers . 1.6 give more cam lift
According to alldata 13-15 ft lbs of torque are needed for the rocker arms. The engine does not need to be at TDC and it also does not have to be running.
rocker arm capscrews 19 ft-lbs that should be what your looking for... you don't torqe the rods, you torque the rocker arms and that's what its supposed to be
Either that or remove the rocker arms and do a cylinder leakage test.
