There are a lot of dogs are that calm and nice. I have a lab that was a ball of energy when she was younger, but she has slowed down a lot since then. If you want a calm animal, I would suggest trying to adopt an adult dog past 5 years old from the pound. These dogs will be a lot calmer and have less energy to spend, but will still be loving and caring, especially since you are the one who got him out of that place.

Golden retrievers! they are the cutest and most intelligent dogs in the world.
Another perspective:The Labrador retriever is usually recognised as the most even tempered, intelligent dog breed. Still a different view:One of the sweetest, biggest hearted breeds I have ever known is the Border Terrier. Quick witted, very intelligent, verging on human intellect, and loyal beyond reproach. Generally however, the most intelligent breed of dog is considered to be the Schnauzer, believe it or not.
Lots of dogs are calm and clever. Even if a breed has a reputation for being calm and clever that does not always mean that an individual dog of that breed will live up to that reputation. It is really an individual dog's personality because all dogs are different.
Dogs were bred to take an active part in the lives of humans -- herding, hunting, guarding, pulling equipment and rescuing the lost. Therefore, there are not many breeds that could be considered "docile." Perhaps the most gentle, accepting, calm and friendly breeds are: rough collie, golden retriever, Newfoundland, greyhound (when not actually racing or exercising). and Labrador retriever. These choices pertain only to well-bred, healthy adult dogs that have not been abused or neglected. Why do these breeds tend to be harder to aggravate than others? Collies, goldens and labs developed close bonds with their human families, but were also "loaned out" to work for others. Therefore, they had to have a kind, stable temperament. Greyhounds, used for racing in modern times, had to be comfortable being handled by a variety of people. Newfoundlands were often used to guard and protect children, and therefore had to have a loving, tolerant attitude toward humans.

little dogs tend to be liver and white with long droopy ears, very cute but also very calm/lazy
A medium sized female poodle, I'm just guessing I think that's it.
There's not one. It just depends on what the dog is like really.
Dashhounds are very good. They will cuddle but they also will play fetch. They are calm.
The Newfoundland is the calmest of the dog breeds. Big and fluffy, they love to lay around and watch what you do.
