It all depends On what kind of bait you are using and where you are at in the river.

I am between the Columbia canal (100 yards away) and the san Joaquin river (20 feet away) also Is there anything in the canal?
I would use whatever type of bait works best worms, chovie, shrimp, bullhead/mudsuckers if I could trap any.
