The kind of grease isn't that important. You can spend good money on high-end lithium bike specific grease if you want, but something used wheel bearing in cars or similar will do just fine. Some prefer to use grease for outboard engines, as it's a tad more resistant to water.
It takes a standard Zerk fitting. If your having trouble with the Alemite fitting on the end of the grease gun, it may be worn out or just loose.
You will need recorder grease for a wooden recorder, and recorder cream for a resin/plastic recorder. On either one, use your finger to smear the grease on the joints of the recorder. On a wooden recorder, the joint will be made of cork or string.
