A.New York economy offered good jobs for some people but also used unpaid work of others. Farmers grew wheat, corn, vegatables, and tobacco. Other New Yorkers became miners, lumberman, sailors, trappers, merchants, and craftsman. However some these workers were indentured servants or African Americans.
Some jobs were Blacksmithing which is basically all iron and metal work, whaling with produced whale oil, a very profitable item, and fishing which could be used as fertilizer and sold in abundances.
Back in the early New England colonies, the main focus was to be able to stay alive and start a civilization, so they had many jobs that were seasonal, as well as some typical ones that you would find in any civilization.
A typical and common job would be the jobs of the blacksmith, hunter, doctor, and translator. It might stike someone odd that there is no teacher included, but that is because not a lot of children were brought to America, and those who were brought might not all have survived the boat ride. Most kids that did survive stayed home and helped keep their homes up an running.
The winters were especially hard on the colonists, so there were official fire builders and starters and keepers, to make sure there was always a source of warmth. That was obviously a seasonal job.
Another seasonal job is the job of the farmer. Farmers had extremely important yet stressful jobs because it was on them to make sure that there was enough food to survive the winter.
Hope that helped :)
