The Nintendo Wii utilizes a built-in "emulator" to play Nintendo GameCube Games, such as Super Smash Bros. Melee. On the "top" of the Nintendo Wii (if you use it in the included cradle) there are two doors. One of these doors covers the Nintendo GameCube controller ports. There are four of these. The other door covers the Nintendo GameCube Memory Card slots. There are two of these. In order to play any Nintendo GameCube game on the Wii, you need to use a GameCube controller, and in order to save, you need to use a GameCube Memory Card. You can still find both of these at most GameStop locations, and there are many stores that specialize in selling consoles, games, and accessories of the previous console generations. These stores seem to be mostly localized retailers, so these stores will have different names in say, Seattle, as opposed to, say, Chicago.
of course.
Yes you can. Super Smash Bros. Melee is a Gamecube game, and therefore can be played on Wii with a GC controller and memory card. There is also a Wii version, Super Smash Bros. Brawl.
It doesn't save data on the Wii. You save game data by using a GameCube memory card.
To start completely fresh in melee either go to your memory card in the gamecube menu and erase your melee data or in melee go to options and pick erase data choose all data to get rid of evertything.
Not unless you have a backup, or copy, on another memory card. In fact, it gives you a warning that it's unrecoverable.

Yes, one can play Super Smash Brothers Rumble with an SD card. If it's being played on the computer or mobile phone it will need a Nintendo DS emulator.
