I'm trying to do a tuneup on my 89' 740 Volvo with turbo. Having problems getting the distributor rotor off?
6.1 if its the turbo 2.3L model
It's behind the ashtray just up from the gear stick. Take the Ashtray out and there's a wee fuse box, that tray slips down and the relays are all in there.
You have to take it to a Volvo dealer. They can look up the code in their database. Each radio has a unique code based on the serial number of the radio.
R134a
take it to the dealer and pay them. its too hard for the average joe to do at home.
take off serpentine belt and unbolt alternator
to change the distributor on a 740 Volvo undo the 3 captive bolts that attach it to the back of the rocker box you will find it easiest to you use a short box spanner and yes it is awkard
SAE 5w30 any major brand. If it is a Turbo I would recommend 100% Synthetic oil.
The service on light is pre programmed to switch on at pre-determined intervals to rmind you to take it in for maintenance.
If this is the 3.9 Turbo Diesel it probably would take the same as a 1991 which is 8.4 quarts
Base models will take 87 octane while the turbo models take 91/93 octane
