What weight oil does a riding lawnmower take?

Depends on the engine, and how it's cooled. Air-cooled engines typically run quite hot, and a heavy oil is necessary (20W to 30W oil). Liquid cooled engines typically run a bit cooler and can run a lighter oil (15W to 20W). For example, I have a 5.5 HP Honda air-cooled engine on my push mower and it requires 30W oil. Best answer I can give you is check with your owner's manual or call/contact the engine manufacturer and they can give you a definite answer. Opt for synthetic oils with the manufacturer's recommended weight. Just like your car, lawnmower engines benefit from high grade synthetics, and the added cost for the oil is quite minimal.

What oil should you use for a small lawnmower?

Look in the owners manual if you have it and see what the rating on the oil should be. I think most air cooled engines require a SG or SJ rating but I'm not sure. Air cooled engines run at higher temp than water cooled engines so, although automotive oils will work, if you're looking for long term service the proper rating will be best. Another thing you should do is run the engine at full throttle to keep the fan turning faster to cool the engine.

What oil can be used in a harley?

Oil rated for use in 4 stroke motorcycles is best. 20w50 is the most recommended "weight". Regular automotive oil is not recommenced due to the temperatures air cooled engines run.

Can you use lawn mower 2 cycle engine oil 50 to 1 in boat motors?

Yes, all two stroke oil can be used in any two stroke engine. It is cheaper to buy it in a gallon jug from the auto parts store than to use the little cans of lawn mower oil.NO... as there is a difference between air cooled 2 stroke oil and water cooled oil, Most makes of air cooled oil usually have a warning on it stating noyt for use in water cooled engines.
