I am trying to change the oil transmission on my ford ranger 1998 but I do not know what kind of oil it needs. it's a 4 cylender
( 5W-30 ) according to the 1998 Ford Ranger Owner Guide ( 2.5 / 3.0 / 4.0 )
In a 1998 Ford Ranger , 5 speed manual transmission : ( Motorcraft MERCON automatic transmission fluid , according to the Owner Guide )
According to one of Fords websites : For a 1988 Ford Ranger : ( the Motorcraft FL-1-A engine oil filter is used for the 2.0 , 2.3 , and 2.9 engines )
5 W 30 ( according to the 1998 Ford Ranger owners manual for the 2.5 L / 3.0 L and 4.0 L engines )
on my 1988 ford ranger (2.3L, 5sp), the fuel filter is behind the driver's front wheel on the inner side of the frame. it's kind of easy to find by following the fuel lines from the tank.
It would be nice to know the engine size and if you mean the oil , air , or gas filter . A little more information please
