My '98 2.2L s10 calls for 5W-30, I use Mobil 1; it's the best oil I've ever seen....other than Royal Purple.

A 2000 Chevy S10 does not have a timing belt.

If your S10 has a 2.2L engine, it doesn't have a distributor cap.
The climate you live in determines what grade oil to use but in most cases a 5W-30 works fine. Check your drivers manual.
An alternator from a 2000 Chevy blazer will fit a 2002 S10 blazer with a little fabrication.
