Mercon ...but i just changed mine and i used Amsoil. look it up on the net you'll see how much better it is. you will need two gallons, if you empty the torque converter.

Manual transmissions dont use fluid, they use a kind of grease.
For a 1995 manual transmission grand am, the fluid capacity is 2.0 quarts for a complete drain and refill. The fluid type is 80W90 transmission oil.
Remove the transmission dipstick and read what it says on the stick, it will tell you what fluid to use.
It is kind of weird but the fluid goes into where the transmission dipstick comes out of. Just get a long skinny funnel.
