What kinds of materials can represent a couples promise other than rings?

Well my friend, this is a touchy question. A lot of couples see materials in different ways. I have been given and have given a ring, a beaded necklace (when I was a hippie, haha) a woman has had a tattoo of my tattoo, the day after I got mine to show her promise to me... but you can go on and on.. A car, a painting... etc.. You know what I like? Poems, letters, and words from the heart... Don't get me wrong, I understand your question. It's asking what material things can represent a promise, and my answer would be just about anything. Usually, it means more if the couple both has something, like a ring, or something like that. But nothing beats knowing by hearing it from her own heart. I don't play around with promises. Some people will promise for everything. I'm just more careful because I see a promise as a huge thing. It's your word. It's from you, from your thoughts, your soul and your heart. I can go on and bore you to death with this, but the bottom line is, in my opinion, any material item can be given as a promise. What are cool promise presents are silver jewlery, like pendants, or something that can be worn on a necklace, but that has something on it that means something to you both. A ring is always great. But something that can be worn on a necklace is always great and usually sparks questions. And, there's not the pressure to wear it every day. Who wears the same necklace every single day? I like my girl to be as pressure free as possible. Another example of a material item that represents love from a different angle; my son was given a pendant that had an angel on it. At the bottom of the silver pendant was the word promise. She said, "keep this forever, whether you accidentally lose it or not, it will still have a meaning, that I promise to always be here for you baby".... That little piece of silver is the world to him. It marks a time in his life, when his mom gave him that to keep forever. If you're shopping for something, be creative. I also bought a book with blank pages and wrote these lyrics and poetry that I had written during the relationship with my girl in the books. To show her what I felt at the time, to mark the time, to make the memory. To me, they key is to "MAKE GOOD MEMORIES, 'CAUSE WHEN YOU GO, (god forbid), YOU WANT THAT MEMORY YOU MADE TO BE THOUGHT OF AND THAT WILL BRING HAPPINESS... AND IT WILL FEEL JUST AS STRONG TO THEM, OR STRONGER, THAN WHEN YOU MARKED THAT TIME IN YOUR LIVES TOGETHER. =) Good luck my friend.. I'm sure you'll do well. Some people are picky too.
