1 ton is about 1 hp or 1 kw

so about 20

caveat:

cant start more than 5 at once

if they are sufficient size to cool their respective spaces

as they reach desired temperature more can be started

What is the difference between prime rating KVA and standby KVA?

The difference b/w the prime generator & standby generator is that the prime generator is used for 24/7/365, while the standby generators are only used in emergency cases, if we used standby generators for more than 24 hours continuously, then it will be overheated for sure.

What size generator would be required for 440 volts 3 phase 100 amp supply?

Volts * Amps = Watts 220V * 20 A = 4400 Watts BUT!!! You don't want to run a generator at 100% capacity for very long; that should be considered peak conditions only and the generator should be run at 80% or less. The generator will last a lot longer if you run it at 50% capacity (in other words, a generator with 8800 Watt capacity would be a good place to start)
