The comment is correct- Mexico had no direct connection to the War of 1812.

Not much new territory was gained during the war of 1812. The Gulf Coast which was supposedly under Spanish control was occupied by US forces and after the War, the US annexed all of Florida. The British forts in Michigan were removed.

None. The war ended in status quo ante bellum. The one territorial gain the US made was Mobile, Alabama, and that was acquired from Spain, not the United Kingdom.
