Ferdinand Magellan never traveled to North America. Magellan was a Portuguese-born Spanish explorer who was ordered to find a new trade route to the Spice Islands (now Indonesia) and did so by sailing across the Atlantic, around the tip of South America, and across the Pacifica. He was murdered in a battle when his crew landed in the Philippines so he was unable to complete the entire journey himself.
