The Union was a name used to note to the federal government of the United States, which was supported by th twenty free states and five border slave states. It was opposed by 11 Southern slave states that declared secession to join together to form the Confederacy. The Confederate States of America (also called the Confederacy, the Confederate States, and the CSA) was the government set up from 1861 by 11 southern slave states of the United States of America.
They prized border states because they could be used for naval reasons such as shipping, trade, or for war with each other.
When the USA split in two, the southern half was called The Confederate States of America, and the northern half was called The United States of America. It was also called the Union during the War.
Some Confederate gold was taken to the Federal Reserve. Other parts were stolen by Union and Confederate soldiers or used to help Southern aristocrats flee.
It stands for Confederate States Ship. The Federal navy used USS for United States Ship. Other countries have similar terms used to identify their military vessels.
The most commonly used sign language in America today is American Sign Language (ASL). ASL has its own grammar and syntax and is used by a large community of Deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals in the United States.
