Most people speak English. Chemehuevi, Southern Paiute, and Ute are dialects of Colorado River Numic. According to Ethnologue, there were a little less than two thousand speakers of Colorado River Numic Dialects in 1990, or about 40% out of a population of 5,000.

The Tiwa people speak English.Historically, they spoke the Tiwa languages, which are part of the Tanoan family. Southern Tiwa is still spoken by about 1500 people, mostly elders.
