The many bands of the Mojave (Pipa Aha Macav) tribe speak a language belonging to the Yuman language family, which is spoken by various tribes in Arizona, California and Mexico.
Yuman is a relatively simple language with few difficult sounds for English speakers, but very sadly there are now less than 100 fluent native speakers left (compared with around 3,000 at the time of first contact). Efforts are being made currently to increase the teaching of the language in reservation schools.
