Franklin D Roosevelt; The only president in US history who was allowed to run for a third term. He was handily re-elected. Roosevelt was allowed to run for the third term due to the country being embroiled in an all-out World War II, which common knowledge said we were still very capable of losing. The President died during his 12th year in office in Warm Springs Georgia in 1945. This was just before Germany was defeated. Though he was virtually assured of allied victory before his death, he did not live to see the enemies laid low.
