If you are considering buying a lizard i would recommend buying a terrarium instead of a fish tank, fish tanks often have gaps in so that you can feed the wires out, if you buy small lizards then they could get out through these gaps. Also, the roof on a fish tank will not have a place to fit a heat lamp which most lizards will need.

Well, yes you can usually. First of all, take out the hermit crabs if there is any in the tank. Second of all, you have to consider how long the lizard is staying in the tank for. If the lizard is kept there permanently, then you would have to decorate the tank appropriately to what climate the lizard is used to. You should also see a vet, pet shop owner or someone that works with those lizards to get advise from them. If the lizard is kept there for 1 to 3 days in the tank, it should survive if you give it fresh water everyday and food according to what lizard it is. It should still survive for 3 days even if you don't give it food but...yeah. BUT DON'T KEEP IT IN THE TANK IF YOU HAVE THE CRABS IN IT. (It could get chopped to pieces).

Well if you are talking about fish you have in a fish tank I would say get a lid for the tank. I had a cat once that liked to go fishing in my fish-tank (which I called cat TV/ He loved watching them for hours!). He would stick 1 claw in amazingly enough and would flip the fish right out of the tank! I had to go and buy a cover for the tank for obvious reasons. Now if you are perhaps talking about fish you are preparing in some way such as cleaning, filleting, steak'ing, scaling, cooking, or possibly fish your eating for dinner I would suggest getting a squirt gun or spray bottle of water and giving them a quick squirt when they are bothering you! That should deter them rather quickly.
