During the Mesozoic era, dinosaurs, pterosaurs, and large marine reptiles diversified. Early mammals evolved. Eventually, flowering plants evolved. At the end, dinosaurs died out, leaving mammals to fill the many empty niches.

Hot, dry conditions dominate the center of Pangea.
Pangea breaks apart as North America seperates from Africa and South America.
Continents move toward their present-day positions as South America splits from Africa.
Australia becomes a seperate continent.
Heavy volcanic activity occurs in the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans.
Climates change frequently, generally becoming drier.
Grasslands spread.
The Andes and Himalayas form.
North and South America are connected.
Thick glaciers advance and retreat over much of North America and Europe, parts of South America and Asia, and all of Antarticca.

∙ 9y agoThe Mesozoic was the time period in which dinosaurs ruled the earth. Birds, conifer trees, and mammals al made their first appearances during this time as well. The end of the Mesozoic was marked by a huge asteroid impact. The impact was thought to perhaps set off a violent chain or volcanic eruptions. . There is a lot of debate to this thought. Either way, the impact and volcanic activity caused a massive climate change and the Cretaceous-Tertiary Mass Extinction.
