could be a clogged air filter, weak fuel pump, clogged fuel filter. Clogged air filter would cause poor engine operation and a possible rich fuel mixture. A weak fuel pump or clogged fuel filter would cause a backfire through the intake condition. A plugged Catalytic Converter would most likely cause engine to bog and run very poorly maybe even stall or struggle to run, no power. You'll probably hear an air sound out your exhaust system. Disconnect Cat from exhaust system closest to engine and try running the engine. It will be loud but you'll be able to see if that cures the problem. If it does, ream out the cat or replace it. Done.....
Your 1983 Chevy S10 Blazer might stall when the accelerator pedal is depressed because of a clogged or dirty fuel filter. Gas that is mixed with water or condensation from the tank can also cause this issue.
It is the accelerator pedal.
it could be a broken link betwen the pedal and the carberetta
* Binding pedal linkage * Binding carburetor linkage (carb models) * Binding throttle body linkage or butterfly (fuel-injection models)
In automotive terms, it is the pedal on the right that makes the vehicle go. Also known as the "accelerator".
On my 1997 Silverado the TPS is right in the accelerator pedal. Look close at your pedal for the wire and plug in module.
Directly above the brake pedal.
with rivets
It is the electronic part at the base of the accelerator pedal itself.
if it runs fine until you push the gas pedal the accelerator pump may be bad if it has a carb on it.
This project is fairly simple. there are a few bolts and a electrical connector that hold the accelerator pedal in place. the accelerator and sensor are all inclusive. look under the drivers side at the pedal find the bolts and electrical connect remove and replace. it's very simple no real technical expertise required.
