Best Answer

The coolant is being circulated by water pump. That is normal operation. Ensure coolant is at proper level (and bled if required).

What is the correct water level for a Camry wagon radiator?

To the top of flange where the radiator cap seals. Pressurized systems overflow to the surge tank when hot and draw the coolant back into the radiator when they cool down. The surge tank has the level mark cast into the plastic. If your radiator is low,the surge tank is probably dry. Fill both to the proper level.

How do you add antifreeze to a hot radiator?

You don't. Wait for the engine to cool down to avoid getting burned before you open radiator cap.

Is old antifreeze bad for the radiator?

Yes because it breaks down eventually & no longer inhibits rust. You can test water inside with a hydrometer, usually in radiator supply section.

How much antifreeze do you put in your 1993 Nissan Pickup V6?

If you have the VG30E model 3litre engine then:down to -15C (5F) needs 30% antifreeze mix. Down to -35C (-30F) needs 50% antifreeze mix. NB 4x2 model has a 10.7 l radiator while the 4x4 model has an 11.7 l radiator.

What do you check when your car engine gets hot?

Check your antifreeze level in the radiator first. There is usually a water pump behind the fan which pumps antifreeze/water as the engine turns, through little water jackets around the engine. This antifreeze/water solution absorbs the heat and is sent to the radiator to cool down before returning to the engine to absorb more heat and repeat the process. This process is regulated by a thermostat in the engine which allows the antifreeze/water to return to the radiator for cooling once a certain temperature is reached. It then makes sense that if the following conditions exist the engine will overheat. 1. Antifreeze/water level low 2. Thermostat not working preventing antifreeze/water from returning to radiator to cool down. 3. Fan belt or electric fan is is broken not allowing the fan to cool the radiator coil which in turn cools the Antifreeze/water. 4. an air lock exists in the system preventing thermostat from opening. To remove an air lock run the engine with the radiator cap off for 20 minutes ensuring that you keep the level of antifreeze/water high. Even when you think all the air is out which you will see bubbling leave it the full twenty minutes. **Never remove the radiator cap unless the engine is cold or running. Removing the radiator cap from a hot engine after turning it off can result in extremely hot liquid spraying out.**

Why is the Antifreeze level high when car is hot but when car is cool down there is no antifreeze?

Coolant will expand as it heats - that's the purpose of the coolant recovery tank - to take excess when vehicle is hot and return it to the radiator when vehicle cools

What is a radiotor used for in a car?

The radiator is used to cool down the coolant (water plus antifreeze etc) which in turn is used to circulate the engine and prevent it overheating.

What is the name of surge's band?

Surge Tankian is a member of System Of A Down

How does the overflow tank work?

if your water/antifreeze gets to hot it pushes out the over flow tube into the overflow container, as it cools down it will suck it out of the overflow and back into the radiator.

How do you replace the engine temperature sensor on a 99 Chevy Malib antifreeze is not reaching the engine and it overheats after 20 min but will restart when cools down?

What makes you think it's the temp sensor? It sounds more like a stuck thermostat, faulty water pump or plugged radiator.

Why do we pour water into the engine tank of a car?

I believe you mean into the radiator tank. Hopefully you also mean antifreeze and not just water. The engine has hollow passages around the hottest parts of the motor and the liquid absorbs the heat and flows through the radiator and cools down again. The reason we use antifreeze now instead of just straight water is because the antifreeze raises the boiling point of the water so the engine can get hotter without overheating and it also has anti rusting chemicals to keep rust from the motor from plugging the radiator core.
