I would define the blues songs as sort of rhythmic an sad. They are also very slow and have some line that rhyme and some that don't. They have a certain topic that they will talk about for example love, romance, death etc. They are also played with very low and deep instruments.

∙ 11y agoA blues song is usually considered blues by using a certain chord pattern-and giving it a certain type of lyrics--uslauu a lamenting sort of story, telling about troubles or lost love or even tongue in cheek humor, all will work for blues. There are different variations in the blues genre as well. there is traditional blues, like BB King does, or there is blues rock like jeff beck, or sometimes called Texas blues, like stevie ray vaughn.
Look up the chord patterns associated with blues songs, and then write your lurics about lost love or something like that.
Then listen to BB King, Stevie ray Vaughn, Albert King, or those who are the masters. You should then have a blues song writing 'background".

No. The guitar was invented 100s of years earlier than the blues. And when the blues began out of rag the major instrument was the piano or the dobro or steel guitar for slide work. The guitar was really a poor mans instrument easy to play and build a decent one but not great or good one. Original guitars were gut and nylon. Steel strings came much later. Blues with guitar are common. Blues with guitar and steel guitar and harmonica are the best.
