Camembert is soft due to its high water content (generally around 50% or higher). The high-water content is held by forming a coat of edible mold over which contains the moisture and helps to form the rich, creamy texture.
The camembert is a round soft cheese.

Grating camembert is not typically recommended due to its soft and creamy texture, which makes it difficult to achieve fine shreds. Instead, camembert is best enjoyed sliced or spread on bread and crackers. However, if you chill the cheese to firm it up, you may be able to grate it, but the results will differ significantly from harder cheeses.
