It can be caused by continual use by heavy vehicles but more often than not it is caused by water collecting on the tarmac and when it freezes it expands and forces the tar apart causing cracks and eventually, holes.
Potholes are typically formed due to a combination of factors such as water seeping into cracks in the road, freezing and expanding during cold weather, along with the constant wear and tear from vehicle traffic. Over time, this weakens the pavement, leading to the formation of potholes.
When moisture undermines a road, such as after a rain, with the combinded weight of traffic, causes a weakening that ends in a pot hole.
Par for a golf course is typically based on the length and difficulty of each hole, not the total yardage of the course. Each hole will have a designated par value, which is the expected number of strokes a skilled golfer should take to complete the hole.
The "melting pot" theory of multiculturalism suggests that different cultures blend together to create a new, unified culture. In contrast, the "salad bowl" theory sees multiculturalism as a diverse mix of different cultures coexisting while maintaining their distinct identities. The melting pot theory focuses on assimilation, while the salad bowl theory values cultural diversity.
The analogy of the "salad bowl" has been suggested as a more appropriate descriptor for the US than the melting pot. This analogy emphasizes the idea that different cultural groups can coexist while maintaining their distinct identities, rather than blending together into a single homogeneous mixture.
Oxygen is the element that makes up the greatest percentage of weight in the body, comprising about 65% of the body's mass.
A person who makes glass bulbs is called a glassblower or a glass artist specializing in glass blowing techniques. They use a combination of heat, tools, and blowing techniques to shape molten glass into various forms, such as bulbs.
Probably because the small ones remind them of the holes woodchucks make.
Circles are a stronger geometrical shape than a triangle. Circles distribute weight equally which makes it more stable. That is why pot holes are circles.
A "pot hole" sinks in like a pot... The sky has a hole in it per say... It's called the hole in the ozone layer...
Pot holes are cracks or weaknesses in roads. If there is a crack/crevice in the road then water may enter and freeze over night, expanding the crevice. As this process repeats and the road is used more then the pot hole will expand in size.

In the Bahamas we have large holes in the lime stone rocks. Top soil is collected in these holes. We then plant fruits and vegetables in these holes. I have seen bananas, sugar canes and mango trees planted in them.
