I don't know the answer but it seems to be a problem in more than just your car. my 86 olds 98 keeps blowing fuses to the fuel pump. everything is new. I think its tied in with the blower motor somehow. When I startthe car the blower motor comes on high, even if fan is turned off, it runs for about 3 seconds then shuts off and that's when the fuse seems to blow. if I start the car and the fan doesn't come on, the car will keep running.
Could be the sending unit or a problem with the wiring if electrical.
I had same problem with my 98. Mine was the throttle body area. What happens is the throttle body gets carboned up and makes the accellerator sticky and causes the hesitation... To fix: 1. remove the large rubber intake from throttle body. 2. start engine. 3. spray throttle body cleaner (large amount) inside butterfly area of throttle body as you rev the engine to keep it running. 4. done.
Electronic choke. It is the air temp sensor just upstream of the air box sending info to the throttle body in conjunction with the antifreeze temp sensor, located on the rear of the block near the firewall, telling the throttle body to increase fuel via a vacuum switch beside the throttle cable on the front side of the throttle body. I think. Maybe. Who knows.
It is probably a bad float and you will have to replace the sending unit assembly.

Your foot on the throttle.

You should call the company that makes the food and tell them. They should have no problem in sending you out a replacement and I'm sure they will be very apologetic to you.
Could be throttle plate is stuck in open position - try to "free" with a screwdriver in throttle throat
Carbon build up in the throttle body.
Possible clearance problems with the gas tank. The bolt patter for most throttle bodies is identical on the fuel injected models, it is only the tanks and things to get around that makes the air cleaners a "hold up lets look at this" sorta thing. Be aware, since 08, when they came out with the "fly by wire" throttle system, there is a huge assembly hanging off the side of the throttle body.
