A common disease that can cause blindness are cataracts. This is when your lenses become opaque meaning that no light goes through. Some babies are born with cataracts. Luckily, cataracts can be removed by surgery. If you have cataracts removed by surgery you have to wear strong glasses or contact lenses. Another disease is called glaucoma. The most common type of this disease occurs in people who are 40 years or older. The other type occurs in babies when they are born. Glaucoma is when fluid in the eye does not drain properly. Pressure in the eye builds up and can damage the optic nerve. The optic nerve brings signals to the brain. Most types of glaucoma can be treated with drugs or by surgery. Another disease is called Trachoma. Trachoma is caused by a virus that affects the cornea and the conjunctiva or lining of the eyelid. The white part of the eye is called the sclera, and the colored part is the iris. The conjunctiva covers the sclera. Trachoma is contagious. It is spread by flies and contact with towels and other articles that have been used by people who have the disease. Physicians can cure the disease in the early stages by using medicines.
You will suffer what are called 'eye floaters' - small specks or clouds moving in your field of vision varying in different shapes and sizes which are within your eye's 'vitreous' (known as transparent jelly like tissue filling the eyeball behind the lens) humour. If you have never suffered these often then it should subside after a while of staring in the bright lights.
People who are blind usually are born with it or are born color blind or something like that. People who are blind usually are born with it or are born color blind or something like that.

well it is certainly not very good for your eyeballs but you might not go blind Unfortunately, the answer is "Yes, unless...". The "unless" is, if you have good eye protection. Welder's glasses, for example. And most planetariums and science stores have "eclipse glasses" which filter out about 99.5% of the Sun's light, which just about right.
YES. Visible light is the leading cause of death of humans on the Earth and is extremely dangerous. THIS IS IMPORTANT. If you see visible light in the wild, DO NOT APPROACH IT. I am the administrator of the Organization for Protection Of Humans from the Dangers of Visible Light (OPOHDOVL). Always remember to watch out for visible light in the daytime. That's when they get you!
