Most are made of galvanized steel but some are made "on the fly" of whatever material is available. The steel versions are made to be portable and can be secured to a base to improve the strength of it. Wooden versions are erected for home use as larger storage areas for gardening tools and equipment. Municipalities used molded plastic or fiberglass as Quonset hut type enclosures for protecting rock salt or top soil.
A hut made out of Plastic And Metal. :)
The Quonset Hut is lightweight prefabricated semicircular structure made of corrugated steel. The design was based on the British Nissan Hut. The name comes Quonset Point where the huts were first made.
The oldest Quonset hut in the world is not exactly known. However researchers believe that the oldest Quonset hut in the world may be located in Melbourne, Australia.
There are two big quonset huts near the village
Quonset Hut
Its very hard sorry, no answer.
quonset point naval air station in Rhode Island where the first quonset hut was built in 1941 took its name from a local Indian word that may coincidentally have meant small long place
Approx. 6 feet of dirt.
Assuming the word intended is "Quonset" as in Quonset hut - "1942, from Quonset Point Naval Air Station, Rhode Island, where this type of structure was first built, 1941. The place name is from a southern New England Algonquian language and perhaps means "small, long place."" - from www.etymonline.com
Army Cadence count. In the case of Quonset Point, Rhode Island, it might be an address as well as a zip code Hut-234!
I assume that by quonset you are talking about a half-cylinder (ie: cut a pop-can in half like so: O becomes ( ); a half-circle that extends backwards). Just find the volume of a cylinder and divide by two. pi*r^2*L/2 So, multiply pi by the radius of your quanset squared multiplied by the length of your quanset and the divide by two. That is the volume of your quonset.
I would call it a hut. If you want to get specific you could use adjectives to describe what the hut is made out of and in what region it might be found in.
