You will need two 24"x12"x12" aquariums for the adult pair and at least one 48"x18"x18" to rear the fry and a supply of 1 gallon jars to place the young males in as they develop before they start fighting. Each aquarium will need a heater thermostat, a thermometer, a cycled filter and close fitting covers. The two 24" tanks should be lit and well planted with both floating and other fine leafed water plants like ambulia sp. The male fish should be kept alone in his 24" tank and the female can be kept with other small fish in hers. They both need their water to be kept at around 78F to 80F and they should be fed a good diet including live food (Daphnia etc) to get them into breeding condition. When the male fish starts blowing bubbles and the female is nice and plump around her tummy she can be gently netted and placed in his tank. A close watch on them is now needed. The male will chase the female a bit and then start building a nest of bubbles and bits of water plant. Every now and then he will go back to the female and try to get her under the nest. This stage may last a couple of hours or a day or more. When she is satisfied with his building she will stay under the nest and he will embrace (wrap himself around) her. She will release some of her ova and they will be fertilised during the embrace. He will then release her and the ova will be seen falling towards the bottom of the tank. He will collect these in his mouth and blow them into the nest. Then the embracing will continue over and over until she has no more ova. He will then chase her away. At this stage she needs to be netted and placed back in her old tank. He will care for the ova and fry until they become free swimming. At this stage he can be netted and put into one of the 1 gallon jars. Now it is up to you to feed and look after the fry. As they grow larger they will need to be moved into the larger 48" tank to grow out and develop. Good luck and have fun.
Both "Albino" and "Pied" are simply variants in color of a species. As long as the Betta fish you want to breed share the same genus, they can breed.... if i need to make that clearer, YES they can breed. :)
No. You need one of each.
From a female Betta. Then the male Betta fertilizes them when they breed together.
no.
Ur betta is ready to breed
nobetta will kill tetra
crown tail bettas.
yes of course well make them about the same size.Hope that helped.
Yes. They are the same species, Betta splendens, just different types.
A Betta splendens produces more Betta splendens if allowed to breed and produce more Betta splendens and so could be regarded as a "producer".
There is no need to remove them. The fish is building his nest and is ready to breed he will only make more.
Usually this only happens when the male is either too young (inexperienced) to breed or he is too weak to breed. Either way they need to be separated before one gets killed. Then they need to be given both time and good food for a couple of months before putting them together again.
