Yes, dogs are made to eat meat! They do need fruit and veg too, though these need to be blitzed to help digestion - in the wild they would eat the contents of the preys stomach which would be partially digested grasses/leaves etc. but they cannot fully digest the cellulose in plants, hence why they eat grass to make them selves sick, or to provide extra fibre to help pass waste.
Many store bought dog food contain 'fillers' which are basically cereals that a dog would Not eat naturally and can lead to many common heath problems - dry skin, dull fur, weight gain, ear infections, and lots of poo because they cannot use the cereals/ constipation
Dogs are designed to live off raw meat (including some organ) and raw bones
But NEVER feed cooked bones! - they become brittle and splinter inside your dog - this can be fatal. Should also not feed weight bearing bones from large animals (cows etc) as they can break teeth.
All three of my dogs are on a BARF ( Biologically Appropriate Raw Food) the older dogs (10) are more lively, have lost weight (were previously a bit heavy), their coats are wonderfully soft, their breath does not smell (!) and they do not toilet as often as their bodies can use more of the food they eat and they love it!
Technically deli meat should not harm a dog. It is not advised to feed it to dogs as it is full of preservatives.
Almost anything but raw pork and shell fish.
