I can tell you some of the meds I was on but please understand that everybodies diagnosis is different not to mention each person reaction to the medication. I had a very specific case of kidney failure with many other symptoms so please don't be angry with me if it isn't completely accurate. I was on: Renegel, Nifedipine, Nexium, iron supplement, lots and lots of tylenol...lol; ummm and I believe ambien because I had insomnia. Oh and of course prograf. Well I hope I was able to help, good luck to you and I hope that everything works out for you. Wishing you all hope and good wishes in the world! God Bless

What medications to hold for dialysis patients?

For dialysis patients, it is generally recommended to hold medications that can be harmful if not adequately cleared by the kidneys. This includes certain diuretics, potassium-sparing medications, and some antihypertensives. Additionally, medications that can cause toxicity due to accumulation, such as certain antibiotics (e.g., aminoglycosides) and narcotics (e.g., morphine), should also be held. Always consult a healthcare professional for specific guidance based on the individual patient's condition and medication regimen.

What vasopressor does to patient on dialysis?

Vasopressors are medications used to increase blood pressure in patients experiencing hypotension, including those on dialysis. In dialysis patients, vasopressors can help maintain adequate perfusion to vital organs during treatment, especially if they are experiencing fluid shifts or hypotension from dialysis. However, careful monitoring is essential, as these medications can affect kidney perfusion and may complicate the patient's overall fluid and electrolyte balance. The choice and dosage of vasopressors should be tailored to each patient's clinical condition.

What medications need prior authorization?

Medications that need prior authorization are those which are not on your insurance's formulary but may be covered if your doctor sends documentation to your insurance company that it is medically necessary. There is no list of "prior authorization medications" that is applicable to everyone. It is specific to your insurance plan (not just company....there are many different plans; it depends on what you or your employer picked). You can find out what medications require prior authorization by contacting your insurance company or logging onto your account on their website.

Does dialysis remove medicine from the blood stream?

Yes, dialysis can remove certain medications from the bloodstream, particularly those that are water-soluble. During the dialysis process, substances in the blood, including drugs, can pass through the dialysis membrane and be cleared from the body. However, the extent of removal depends on the specific medication's properties, such as its molecular size and solubility. Patients on dialysis should consult their healthcare provider to adjust their medication regimen accordingly.

What about when you are on dialysis how long does THC take to get out of your system on dialysis?

I dont think so, because even though dialysis cleans out all toxins from your body, dialysis is at the same time working as a kidney right?...Well, if the kidneys job is to filter out toxins, how come people with healthy kidneys drug tests come up positive? Its an iffy situation...I guess the only way to find out is to be a dialysis patient, smoke some marijuana...After that, finish a dialysis session then go get tested and let me know how it turns out I am on dialysis and have been surprized tested and was negatve after smoking 2 weeks prior nota heavy smoker now but after 3 days of dialysis per week I was clean sooner than if I didn't have dialysis takes 30 days to clear the body?

What can cause swelling in the face and neck during kidney dialysis?

Swelling in the face and neck during kidney dialysis can be caused by fluid overload, as the kidneys are unable to effectively remove excess fluid from the body. Additionally, changes in blood pressure during dialysis can lead to vascular reactivity and fluid shift, contributing to edema. Allergic reactions to dialysis materials or medications can also cause localized swelling. It's important for patients experiencing these symptoms to communicate with their healthcare team for appropriate assessment and management.
