Social injustices have existed throughout human history. They can be as harsh as genocide or as slight as cutting back on budgets for education. It also needs to be pointed out that fighting for social justice is not confined to people of a political part of society. To make a point by using an extreme example, people of all political backgrounds have regarded the genocide in Kosovo in the 1990's an evil that needed to be stopped.

Activists in the United States and the so-called Western World have a good deal of freedom in choosing various means of fighting social injustice. Here are a few common ones and I'll use the denial or attempted actions to vote:

1. Having law makers change or revise laws that impede the right to vote;

1a. This can be done by petitions, legal demonstrations, and through the news media.

2. Using the same tactics to pressure an executive branch of government to enforce more thoroughly, laws already on the books;

3. Electing to Congress or Parliaments people who see the need to change or enforce fair voting laws;

4. Electing a President or Prime Minister who sees that voting laws already on the books need to be enforced or revised.

All persons concerned with social injustices can participate in the actions stated above. People can form organizations to better represent the issues at hand, or can use labor unions as their voice for changes.

Moving to other areas of social injustice here are some methods that have also been effective in making changes that better serve the fight for perceived social injustices. This might involve abuses of public or privately owned businesses.

Here we come into the tactics of using legal demonstrations to convince companies or government operated services to amend practices or create them to improve the lot of employees. This might for example include non discrimination regarding pay and promotions.

Boycotting organizations who have unfair hiring practices.

And using the news media to draw attention to social injustices in organizations that are unfair to their employees.

It should be noted that it is difficult to get media attention on unfair employees policies within news media organizations. As an example, we won't find the influential New York Times writing an editorial about unfair promotion policies within itself..

Once again, within the confines of democratic nations, all of the above can be methods to present to international organizations such as the World Bank or the United Nations, socially unjust policies that need to be addressed.

And it cannot be over stated that persons called progressives, conservatives, Democrats, Republicans or liberals can and should be people who seek to correct social injustices, domestically or internationally.
