It depends on how large the shipment is, and where you're starting from. In general, unless there are unusual circumstances it probably won't go by air. If there was a hurricane in the area and you need blankets and food there today, put it on a plane. Rail, water and truck freight are always good for that kind of shipment, and a lot of times a large low-value shipment will be sent "intermodal"--it will go part of the way by train and finish its journey by truck.
