To stay alive, all living things must do 4 things:
1. Exchange gasses. For humans, it is breathing in oxygen and breathing out carbon dioxide. If we do not do this, we die in minutes. For plants, they release oxygen, and take in carbon dioxide. For microbs, such as a paramesium, you exchange gasses through microscopic holes in the cell.
2. Eliminate waste. In other words, go potty. It may sound silly but your body would not do well if you didn't do this. You also can eliminate waste with flatulance. If you refuse to go, you hold it in and get that unpleasnt feeling. Then you feel you back side starting to hurt, where your kidneys are located. Then your organs shut down. This is a painful death i would suggest to no body. In all this processs, you would have only hours to live.
3. Water. Everyone knows you can drink it, but also you can eat it through different foods. In micro organisims (microbs), they get water through the microscopic holes I mentioned before. In plants, they get it through the grounnd from the roots. Without water, humans would only have days.
4. Energy. For humans, food. Of course, we humans eat. Some micro organisims, such as a paramesium have a "gullet" where food comes in. In plants, they get it through a process called "photosynthesis", where sunlight comes to the plant, and the chlorophil makes the sunlight into food. This explains the green color of plants.
(Please note these are in the order of need for a HUMAN. Plants, fungi, bacteria and proteista differ in needs.)
Also there are 3 things a living thing can do, but doesnt need to.
1. Grow. I don't need to explain this.
2. Move. Neither this one.
3. Respond to encironment. This is talking, gestures, alot of different things.
Hope This helps!!
eat food from their mouth
release energy from their food.
consume foods from all the major food groups
digest their food in their stomachs
All living organisms must have or made up of cells.
One of the characteristics is they contain genetic material (DNA), which is a characteristic that all living things must have in order to be considered living. And also when inside a host, they are able to reproduce, which all living things must be able to do.
produce energy
All living things growAll living things reproduceAll living things exhibit variationsAll living things respond to certain stimuliAll living things need and use energyAll living things have an intricacy of formAll living things maintain homeostasisThere are 6 characteristics of life. 1. All living things have cells. 2. All living things have essential chemicals. 3. All living things use energy. 4. All living things respond to stimuli. 5. All living things reproduce. 6. All living things grow and develop. Living things are made of cells.Living things obtain and use energy.Living things grow and develop.Living things reproduce.Living things respond to their environment.Living things adapt to their environment.
All living things: grow and develop All living things: use energy All living things: reproduce All living things: get rid of waste All living things: adapt to changes in their environment
All living things need water.
All living organisms must have or made up of cells.
All living things need nourishment.
ALL living things (organic) must have carbon and oxygen to live.
Water
If the dog is living and all living things use energy, then the dog must use energy. They must continually replenish the energy that they spend through the consumption of food.
If the dog is living and all living things use energy, then the dog must use energy. They must continually replenish the energy that they spend through the consumption of food.
There are four things that determine if something is living. They are: 1)All living things obey the laws of chemistry and physics. 2)All living things use DNA. 3)All living things require energy. 4)All living things are made up of cells.
Food, water, shelter, air
All living things need water
Yes. All living things must reproduce.
The animals must reproduce.
