What effect if any does connecting an ammeter in series with a resistor in a circuit have on the current though the resistor?

That depends on the quality (price) of the meter. Ideally it should have no effect.

Describe how a meter would be connected in a circuit too measure the voltage at a light bulb?

When connecting a volt meter to a light bulb to measure the voltage of the light bulb, run a third wire from where the wire enters the bulb to one terminal of the voltmeter and a fourth wire from the other side of the bulb to the other terminal of the voltmeter.

How can you find resistance of a component?

The simplest way would be to use an ohm meter. To measure it correctly it should be disconnected.

What is electricity test?

A continuity test is a simple test, used to determine whether there is a break in a circuit. This can be done, for example, using an ohmmeter which passes current through the circuit from its internal battery -a deflection (analogue meter) or a '000' reading (digital meter) indicates that there is continuity. A continuity test MUST NOT be performed on an energised circuit, as this will likely damage the ohmmeter and present a shock hazard to the user.

What are the changes take placein the volt meter connected to the series and pararrel circuits?

The essential difference between a series circuit and a parallel circuit is the way in which the components are physically connected. In a series circuit there is just a single path that electricity can take, whereas in a parallel circuit there are two or more different paths.

Why is it important to set a meter to the highest voltage range before connecting it into a circuit?

Sorry idont know

How is a voltmeter wired in with the load?

An inline volt meter is designed to have the voltage pass through it. The wire has to be cut or otherwise disconnected, and the meter installed between the disconnected ends of the wiring.

What should be observed when connecting a volteter into a DC circuit?

polarity is of major importance in dicect current circuits. <<>> When using meters please remember that a volt meter does not connect into a circuit, the leads are placed across the component that you are measuring. It is an amp meter that connects into the circuit, becoming part of the circuit, to measure the current flowing through that circuit.

What effect if any does connecting an ammeter in series with a resistor in a circuit have on the current through the resistor?

The Amp meter was design to allow current flow through the meter to measure with a minimal alteration to the original circuit. That is the ideal world, in reality the meter has some resistance and will lower the current flow. The multiple current setting on most meter will reduce the effects caused by the meter but you must be careful not to damage the meter by reading to high for the setting.

How can i test a crankshaft position sensor?

With sensor removed the business end should be magnetic. While the sensor is disconnected and removed, probe the two pins for resistance with an ohm meter. The circuit should not be open.

How do you prevent multimeter from damaged?

Besides not dropping it, you prevent damage to a multimeter by never connecting it to a circuit that it is not intended to measure. Two examples... If you are in a 0.6 milliamp range you would not want to connect the meter to a 6,000 volt focus pin in a television set. If you are in ohms mode, you would not want to connect the meter to a circuit that has voltage present.

Will the voltmeter work when ammeter is connected wrongly in a circuit?

The volt meter should work. The meter is connected across the supply where as the amp meter is connected in series with any load that it is metering. On larger installations to measure the amperage, a current transformer is connected around the conductor to be monitored. If a CT is used then the polarity has to be observed when connecting to an amp meter.

When troubleshooting a 120 volt light fixture with your volt meter you read 0 volts from hot to neutral and 120 volts from hot to ground what is wrong with the circuit?

The Ground and Neutral wires have been wrongly connected somewhere before reaching the light fixture. The whole run of the circuit from the breaker panel to the light fixture must be checked so that the wiring fault can be corrected. : IF YOU ARE NOT ALREADY SURE YOU CAN DO THIS JOBSAFELY AND COMPETENTLYREFER THIS WORK TO QUALIFIED PROFESSIONALS.If you do this work yourself, always turn off the powerat the breaker box/fuse panel BEFORE you attempt to do any work ANDalways use an electrician's test meter having metal-tipped probes(not a simple proximity voltage indicator)to insure the circuit is, in fact, de-energized.

If house has no electric meter how can you energize 120v circuit with extension cord or portable generator to operate light switchs?

You can energise the circuit by connecting to a neighbour's supply, then they will pay for the energy used. Anything different is classed as theft. An electrician would be needed to do the job safely.
