Who was Perseus?

Perseus was a child of Zeus and a mortal woman. He was found as a baby and brought up by strangers. He was travelling and eventually came across a city. He went into the city through the city gates, and saw a person being burnt at the stake. He asked a guard why and the guard replied, "He answered the 'Andromeda Riddle' wrong. Andromeda asks a question and you must answer. If you get it wrong, well you know what happens. But, if you get it right, you get to marry the princess." So Perseus went up to Andromeda and answered her riddle correctly. Perseus was invited to a royal feast celebrating his victory and the king said, "You are lucky. She is more beautiful than the goddess of beauty." This offended the gods and they sent them a warning saying that if they did not sacrifice Andromeda to the gods by the Kraken eating her, they would wreak havoc throughout the city. They decided that they would have to do it. But Perseus was smart and went questing, along with a few others, for a way to kill the Kraken. As he was leaving, he found a Diamond Sword and a shiny Shield. He found after several days, Medusa's Lair where he defeated her by looking at her reflection in his shield. He took its' head and flew, using a Pegasus to rescue Andromeda. He reached her just as the Kraken arose. He made the Kraken look at Medusa's head and turned the Powerful Sea Monster into stone. He went back to the City to live with Andromeda and her family. I have taken the actual myth and put into simpler words, but it is pretty accurate

Who was Iphigenia and what her role in the Trojan War was?

Iphigenia was the daughter of Agamemnon and Clymnestra. Agamemnon is the high king of the Greeks and ruled over Mycenae. A prophecy said that in order for the boats to sail safely to Troy, Iphigenia must be sacrficed. So Agamemnon came up with the scheme that Iphigenia was to marry Achilles, a great hero, but at the "marriage", she sacrificed her instead. There are alternate endings on how Artemis took pity on Iphigenia and replaced her with a deer at the last minute, and then made Iphigenia her priestess or that Pan sacrificed himself instead of Iphigenia.

Why did Perseus cut off Medusa's head?

After King Acrisius sent Danae and Perseus away from Argos, they came to a land where the king collected wives and he wanted Danae as a wife, but she refused, so he sent soilders out after her(After what must seem like the millionth time of asking her to Danae) And Perseus beat them up and sent them back and told them to tell the King she would marry who she wanted, so the King, (Obviously being really mad At Perseus) Wanted Perseus killed so he told him to go and kill Medusa thinking he would be killed, But he got the head as asked and brought it to Athena (And Yes King Acrisius was killed by Perseus like in the prophecy) THAT is why he cut Medusa's head off.
