What message did Jeremiah the prophet spread?

His chief message was the need for the Judeans to repent; otherwise the Temple would be destroyed and the people exiled.

Why was Jeremiah hated?

Jeremiah was a mix of two things people have a tough time putting up with: a Doomsday Predictor and an Advocate for Harsh Changes.Doomsday Predictor: Jeremiah went on and on about how Jerusalem would fall and a day of reckoning would be upon the people. Nobody wants to listen to somebody forecasting problems or difficulties, because that means that people should expend resources without a "clear" threat.Advocate for Harsh Changes: He constantly admonished the Judeans for their practice of idol worship, which would have gotten their ire because they were quite happy to disobey God's religion and invoke the local gods. It's similar to how people today get angry when told to eat differently than they currently do. It doesn't win friends.

Origin of tohubohu including language?

genesis 1 uses the Hebrew phrase -tohu WA bohu -for the original state of the earth, translated as "without form and void." the words don't seem to have any other use. They show up in Jeremiah as a threat about how the world will be punished if the sinful activites of the Judeans continue.

Where and when did Jeremiah work?

Although he went down to Egypt later, most of Jeremiah's work was in and around Jerusalem, towards the end of the 5th millennium BCE (according to traditional chronology).AnswerHistorians have established with reasonable certainty that the Babylonian Exile took place in 586 BCE. Jeremiah worked in Jerusalem during the latter part of the reign of Jehoiakim (c 635-597), urging him to surrender to Nebuchadrezzar, and until the time of the Exile. He then fled to Egypt where he settled in Tahpanhes in the eastern delta, and continued to provoke the anger of his fellow Judeans, on one occasion over their continued worship of the 'queen of heaven' (Jereremiah 44).

How did the Ottomans influence the israelites?

They didn't. The Ottomans arrived in Anatolia and the Levant in the mid 1200s C.E. The Israelites had been replaced by the Judeans (as a political and religious grouping) by the mid 600s B.C.E. and the Judeans had been exiled from Judea by 70 C.E. The Ottomans had positive relations with the Jewish communities (especially relative to contemporaneous civilizations) but had no influence on the Israelites.
