The 2004 BMW 525i came equipped with the 2.5L 6-cylinder engine. The vehicle requires 0W40 or 5W40 European specification synthetic engine oil. The most current specification for these oils will list BMW Longlife-04 on the bottle.

The best oil you could use for the 525 i is magnatec or 20 w 50
The manufacturer recommends that you use 10 W-40 weight oil in your 1991 BMW 525. If the vehicle is operated in extremely cold climates a lighter oil can be used.

Always use synthetic oils in BMW's.
