At any one period there was usually only one prophet. At the time of Ezekiel that was the case and he was the only prophet In Israel from 593 B.C.E. to 573 B.C.E. Ezekiel was a priest and served as a prophet for 20 years. He was among the ten thousand people exiled to Babylon following the first invasion of Jerusalem in 597 B.C.E.
