What is one potential benefit of genome sequencing that can be weighed against possible negative effects?

Knowledge of your genome could help you prepare for, or even prevent, some diseases.

Which cells contain more DNA than the other?

Most of the DNA inside a human cell is contained in the nucleus, but a small amount is found in the mitochondria. The nucleus is an organelle found inside most cells, but not red blood cells. The nucleus is not a cell, just like a dinning room is not a house. All the cells in a human body with the exception of the sex cells and red blood cells contain the same amount of DNA in the nucleus. Some cells contain more mitochondria which have a little extra DNA so probably muscle or liver cells would contain the most as they need the most energy and so have the most mitochondria. To work out which cell in the world contains the most DNA we could try looking at which species has the largest genome. So far the biggest animal genome sequenced is that of Protopterus aethiopicus, the Marbled lungfish at 132.83pg of DNA per cell. So probably Marble lung fish muscle or liver cells will contain the most DNA in an animal species. We do not know the size of every species genome yet so this is really a guess.Well for Study Island, the answer is, in fact, Nucleus

How can human genome project be unethical?

The human genome project is often thought to be unethical because of the implications it could serve now that we know the genes and their location in the human genome. Some people believe that now that we can code someone's DNA, that we will begin to code everyone's DNA, and that employers and insurance companies could than use this data. Some people believe that is will create a genetic bias in our society. It is somewhat like the idea of the movie Gattaca if you have ever seen that.

What are the disadvantages to human genome project?

the only negative to it that genome studies are so vast it will take many years of study to fairly understand this well. provided in the related links box is a good link to read about the human genome project

What is in a highlighter?

When you select cells, their colour changes to show that they have been selected, and that is often referred to as a highlight. So you could say that highlighted cells are selected cells.

How is it possible that 2 people with the same genome could be different?

No two people have the same genome - everybody's DNA is slightly different.

Can the genome of an organism be taken as a template for PCR?

No about 16,000 bases is about the limit that you can do for PCR so perhaps you could use an entire viral genome (or a cDNA copy) as a PCR template but not an entire genome of cellular organism even if you ignore the fact that a eukaryotic organism has it's genome spread over separate chromosomes.

What two factors cause an color change?

There are special cells in certain animals, such as the octopus, that allow the cells to move so fast that it changes colors. But i have never heard that a human could do it
