Why were those countries fighting in the Vietnam war?

Basically, the Vietnamese sides, north and south, each had allies and supporters. These allies joined with the troops in Vietnam. The US was on the side of the south. They lost.

Was being on the south side a good idea for America soldiers to be at in the Vietnam war?

Certainly yes. Our goal was to stop the spread of communism which the North Vietnamese(Communists) was going to or planning to invade the South Vietnamese. The South Vietnamese dressed the same as the Charlies(Vietcong) and north vietnamese though so it was a stressful time just to confirm who was who.

What were the main reasons of the Vietnam war?

The main reasons for starting a War in Vietnam was simply because communism was spreading and countries such as America didn't want this to happen. North Vietnam was already communist and the Americans feared that over time it would spread into the south and other places such as Laos and Korea. This is known as the Domino Theory. This basically meant that if one country feel into communism, then the surrounding countries would eventually fall also. The Americans and Australians fought against the North Vietnamese troops along side the South Vietnamese troops.

Who were the other countries involved in the Vietnam war?

Red China/USSR supplied North Vietnam with material & South Vietnamese guerrillas called the Viet Cong supplied guerrillas in the fighting in South Vietnam. The US, Australia, New Zealand, S. Korea, S. Vietnam, Philippines, and Thailand supplied troops for the allied side during the war.

What side did the viet cong represent?

The Viet Cong were insurgents and terrorists in South Vietnam, who supported the North Vietnamese Army. While the North Vietnamese Army fought in direct combat from the north, the Viet Cong used guerilla warfare and insurgency tactics to interrupt operations in the south.

Were we on the right side of the Vietnam conflict?

It depends on who "we" refers to and how a person defines the "right" side. According to the current Vietnamese government, the United States fought on the wrong side of the Vietnam War. The Vietnamese government claims that South Vietnam was really a puppet state of the United States in its intent to colonize all of Vietnam and the North Vietnamese were helping the South achieve freedom, liberation, and unification. The United States narrative is that it was protecting the South Vietnamese people against North Vietnamese aggression, violent conquest, and the spread of communism, similar to how they had defended South Korea and Taiwan previously.

What Countries were not communist during the cod war?

Other than Cuba and possibly some smaller 3rd world undeveloped nations, the communist nations were located ON the Eurasian Continent: the USSR on the left side of the map along with East Germany and their bordering Warsaw Pact countries, and the Red Chinese, North Koreans, North Vietnamese on the right side of the map. Probably only Cuba was the sole communist nation located off the Eurasian continent. Anything else was generally not considered of military importance.

What is the American side of the Vietnamese war?
